Event Policies:
Use of Headphones: Headphones are allowed on the race but at your own risk. We ask you to take them off when you approach an officer or a course marshall to ensure that you can hear their directions.
Timing: Official time will be kept until 1:30 pm (6.5 hours) Awards: Awards will be presented at 11:00 am at finish area. Awards will NOT and can NOT be mailed. Please pick them up in person or have someone else pick them up for you.
Weather: Average Air Temps: Low 50's, High 65

Shuttle Buses to the Start:
There will be shuttle buses to Byron, MN for the start of the marathon, ½ marathon, 20 mile, and 4 person relay. There will be NO shuttle buses from the finish line back to Byron! There is limited parking at Byron for the start of the race. Preferred option is to park near Soldiers Field and take the shuttle to Byron. Buses will begin shuttle service at 5:00 am and last bus will leave Rochester at 6:20 am. Buses will be departing from the corner of 1st Ave and 6th ST SW (near the "Y"). Please proceed to the first bus in line. Please come early so we can get everyone to the start in a timely manner.
Parking at the Finish:
There are numerous areas to park in the area. The parking lot across the street from the "Y" will be available. The parking lot at K-Mart and Soldiers Field Plaza are available on the east side of Broadway. There is a parking ramp 3 blocks away on 1st Ave and 3rd ST SW which is free on weekends. There are many Mayo Clinic lots available also. Please DO NOT park in the parking lot on either end of the "Y", the church parking lot or the golf course lot.
Runner Drop-off Areas:
If you choose to have someone drop you off at the finish area to catch the morning shuttle, please have them drop you off at the corner of 6th ST and 2nd Ave SW or Broadway and 6th ST SW to avoid congestion.
If you choose to have someone drop you off at the start in Byron, please take County 3 to 7th ST NE( Cty Rd 134), right on 7th to Tompkins Drive. Turn left and go to Byron Main Court. This is the Byron Town Hall; drop runners off in turn around and exit same way.
Start Area Logistics:
- Shuttle Area Drop-Off Area: The Town Hall will be the drop off area for shuttle riders. Packet pick up will be in the lower level of Town Hall. Precede in front door and go either left or right to stairs. Go down to lower level. Packet pick up for all races will be here. There is no race day registration for the marathon, half, or relay. After picking up your packet, or being dropped off you may proceed across 10th street to the Elementary School.
- Food and Warm-Up: The gymnasium and commons area of the school will be available for stretching, relaxing, or God forbid, inclement weather. We will have water and Gatorade available in the commons area and in the parking lot of the school. Since we are asking you to get to the starting area early there will also be bagels, fruit, and granola bars available in the commons area for your breakfast.
- Restrooms: Restrooms will be available in the following areas:
- Town Hall – main level and lower level.
- Elementary School – down the hall from commons area and in the locker rooms located in the gym.
- Port-a-potties will be available in the north parking lot of the school.
- Bag drop off area is located across the street from the elementary school. Relay teams will be guaranteed entry if registered by May 7th regardless if field limit is reached.
Aid Stations:
Water, GatorAde, and first aid will be provided every other mile beginning with mile 2.

- Mile 8 – On Country Club Road, locate at intersection of 45th Ave on Northwest side
- Mile 10 – On 2nd ST SW on east side of Grease Monkey Oil Change
- Mile 12 – On 2nd ST NW at intersection of 8th Ave NW
- Mile 13.3/15.2 – On bike path at Soldiers Field across from Snappy Stop, locate north of parking lot
- Mile 16.9/ 24.3 – At gardens on Mayowood Rd, at park bench

Start Line:
The start line is near the Rochester Running Room next to the YMCA. The start will be at 7:30 am and the finish will be the same finish as all the other events.

The finish area is located at the north end of the Y. This is the finish of the marathon, ½ marathon and relay, so it will be very congested. Please be courteous and watch where you are going and look out for runners. As you approach the Y area on 1st Ave after 13 mile mark the ½ marathon runners will be directed to the right side where they will turn to the finish line. The relay and marathon runners will stay left. After passing the Y, the relay runners will turn right to the exchange zone.

Marathon Relay

Relay Exchange Zones:
- Zone 1: On Country Club Road, 1/10th mile west of 60th Ave, at white arch at drive
- Zone 2: At the "Y", in the south parking lot.
- Zone 3: On Mayowood bike path 3/10th of mile north of "y" in path near Mayowood Road.
- Shuttle buses will take relay runners to exchange zones.
Relay Logistics:
- First relay person will start at Byron with marathon, ½ marathon. Procedure to get to Byron will be the same as noted above.
- 2nd relay runner will have the option of catching a shuttle to the exchange zone from Byron or in Rochester. The shuttle from Byron to the exchange zone will leave from the Town Hall turn around 5 minutes after start of the race. You may also take a shuttle from Soldiers Field Drive behind the Y starting at 6:50 am. Soldiers Field Drive is the relay shuttle area. This is where all runners will be picked up and dropped off.
- 3rd leg of the relay starts at the Y in the south parking lot. Parking is very limited at the relay exchange zones, so please use shuttle bus if possible.
- All relay runners, please wear your ChampionChip timing device on your ankle to receive an official time.

20 Mile Run Details
Start: Byron, MN - City Hall
Finish: 20 Mile Point of Marathon, Bussed to Finish Area
We are offering a 20 mile run this year, but you will not be able to use the online registration sites. To register, download the registration form. Choose 20 mile run on it, and drop it off at the Y or send it by mail with the fee.
There is no formal finish line for the 20 mile run. You will see it marked as the 20 mile point, and from there you will be very close to one of the relay exchange points, and you can take a shuttle bus from there back to the Y, which is the formal finish line for the marathon. The 20 mile run is not timed.

Course Description:
This scenic course starts in Byron, MN between City Hall and Byron Elementary School. It will travel through Somerby Golf Course before heading into Rochester on Country Club Road. The course will then head through downtown and onto the bike paths along the river and through the woods. The first 8 miles are rolling hills and the rest in mostly flat. The marathon, half marathon and relays all start in Byron.
